Accra, Jan. 28, 2026 – The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has launched investigations into an alleged assault on a journalist with Media General, reported on Monday, January 26, 2026.
A release issued by the Department of Public Relations of the GAF and signed by Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director Department of Public Relations, GAF, on Wednesday said the incident was reported to have occurred on the outskirts of Walewale in the North East Region.
It explained that the area had, in recent times, recorded attacks on public transport, leading to deaths and injuries, heightening the overall security situation.
The release said the evolving security challenges in the North East and Upper East regions had occasionally made it necessary for the military to conduct operations without prior notice.
It, therefore, called on the public to remain calm and cooperate with the military and other security agencies to help restore and maintain peace and security.
The release assured the public that the GAF was committed to professionalism and accountability and would deal appropriately with the outcome of the investigations.
