Bolgatanga, Jan. 22, 2026 – The Upper East Regional Minister has highlighted inclusive leadership and broad-based stakeholder engagement as hallmarks of his first year in office, saying dialogue and consensus-building have been key to ensuring political stability and effective governance in the region.
The Minister said through structured consultations with political stakeholders, traditional authorities, security agencies and Honourable Assembly Members, he successfully supervised the confirmation of all Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across the region.
He explained that although the confirmation process initially faced resistance in some districts, the challenges were resolved through dialogue and inclusive decision-making, resulting in administrative continuity and improved cooperation among key actors.
In line with statutory requirements, the Minister said he had presided over two Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) meetings in 2025, which provided a platform for collective decision-making, policy coordination and performance review.
According to him, the RCC engagements strengthened coordination, supervision and performance monitoring among Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, while ensuring adherence to national development policies.
The Regional Minister said he also paid courtesy calls on Paramount Chiefs, traditional authorities, religious leaders and other stakeholders to deepen collaboration between government and communities.
He noted that the engagements recognised the critical role of traditional and religious leaders in peace-building, social cohesion and development mobilisation across the Upper East Region.
On administrative leadership, the Minister said he undertook the renovation of the Presidential Lodge after safety and aesthetic concerns arose due to damaged floor tiling, adding that the intervention had restored the facility to acceptable standards.
He further indicated that steps were being taken to renovate the Big House and other key structures within the enclave, with support from the Presidency.
The Minister said Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) had been engaged to assess the facilities and prepare cost estimates for the renovation works, which had since been submitted to the Presidency.
He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive, consultative and results-oriented leadership to promote unity, stability and development in the region.
